NEW ROLES FOR 3 FAMILIAR EDUCATORS Shelia Burke Leanne Ebert Kevin Welch

first_imgWILMINGTON, MA — School Superintendent Dr. Glenn Brand introduced the district’s new administrators to the public at a recent School Committee Meeting. Three of these administrators are no strangers to Wilmington Public Schools.Shelia Burke was named Interim Assistant Principal at the Woburn Street School this summer.“After serving as a classroom teacher at the North Intermediate School for over a decade, Ms. Burke will act in an interim capacity to support Principal Suzanne Sullivan as an integral part of the leadership team at the Woburn Street School,” said Brand. “We are so pleased Ms. Burke has decided to take on this position of added responsibility.”“I am thrilled to be transitioning to this role.” Burke told the School Committee. “It’s been wonderful since July 1 and I haven’t stopped smiling since.”Kevin Welch was recently named Interim Assistant Principal at the Shawsheen Elementary School.“Mr. Welch has served the Wilmington community for many years as both a teacher at the middle school and, most recently, as the interim middle school principal, starting in January 2017,” said Brand. “Mr. Welch will serve in this interim role in support of Ms. King’s leadership team at the school…. We’re very fortunate to have him continuing in a leadership role in the district.”Leanne Ebert was named the district’s Coordinator of Special Education in July.“Most recently, Mrs. Ebert served as the Special Education Curriculum Team Leader (CTL) for grades 6-12 here in Wilmington Public Schools,” noted Brand. “Prior to her role as CTOL, Mrs. Ebert served for 6 years as a Special Education Teacher at the Wilmington Middle School, leading a program for students with social and emotional needs. In addition, she was previously a Special Education teacher at the Shawsheen Technical High School, and a Behavior Consultant/trainer at Shore Educational Collaborative.”“It’s a great team [of administrators].
